Act Like the Most Important Person in Your Life is Watching

I was coaching a leader to reset expectations for her team when she said one of the best things I’ve heard in a while.

As we were discussing her draft expectations, she shared the following:

Act like the most important person in your life is watching.

How powerful is that, right?

It’s one thing to say, “We’re problem-solvers” or “We find a way.”

That stuff is great and so needed across many, many teams.

But that most important person idea is such an interesting spin on this.

Think about your most important person. Whoever that is.

Do you consistently operate in a way that would make them proud? Do you always do things that they’d unconditionally approve of?

Yeah, me neither.

Look, this isn’t coaching for you to try to be perfect. It’s coaching to think about your actions and whether your partner or your kids or your parents or whomever, would see you and say, “Yes. That’s my person. They’re amazing.”

That’s a pretty cool thing to aspire to. I plan to put it into practice. Care to join me? If so, send me an email at Michael@RebelCulture.com and tell me so.
