Duuuuvaaaallll
I didn’t know this, but the US football team, Jacksonville Jaguars, play in Duval County in Florida. As such, when the team makes a good play (which didn’t happen often this past year), many fans chant, in unison, “Duuuuvaaaallll.”
They stretch it out in that elongated way as seen here.
I actually read in multiple places, though it doesn’t necessarily sound like it in the above video, that it’s the loudest chant in all of pro football.
Loudest or not, it’s pretty cool.
Recently, the Jaguars hired a new coach named Liam Coen.
At his introductory press conference, he tried his own version of the Duval chant.
Immediately, responses from both Jags’ fans and non-Jags’ fans rolled in. On ESPN, on the NFL Network, and on social media.
These are the first ten comments, in order, below the YouTube video of him saying it.
“I’m pressing charges lol. This was disturbing.”
“The Jacksonville Jaguars have been eliminated from 2026 playoff contention. 😂”
“Looks like an 0-17 season for the 2025 Jaguars!”
“That’s the guy who says “noice” in a British accent 😏”
“This is something straight outta The Office 😂”
“goofball”
“Just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse.”
“Cohen-17 baby! Let's go! Lose-all!!!”
“I’m so embarrassed.”
“It was so quiet when he said that. Too quiet and weird.”
This is why so few people are willing to truly lead. It’s why so many people are unwilling to fully go for it. Why so many people would rather stay small than go big.
Because the risk of embarrassment for so many outweighs what might be on the other side of it.
Coen’s Duval was as cringey as can be.
So what.
He went for it. He put himself out there. He committed.
I don’t know if he’ll be a good coach. I do know that if I were a player on the team, I’d respect him for trying to be a part of the culture right away. I’d respect him for caring about what I care about. I’d respect him for not caring about looking foolish in service of something bigger.
What’s something that you’ve been avoiding because you think it might not go well? Got it? Great. Go do it.
Here’s the video…
